Carb Options.... do you read the labels?

I have been reading the labels and comparing them to 'regular' items. Today I read the label for the fetticine sauce. It had the same of everything else for the most part but only 1 gram less of carbs per serving! And since the regualar has 3g and the carb option has 2g had I been buying it I would not have paid $1 more for the carb option. Also.... the spaghetti sauce. I compared it last week to the Ragu light. They have the same number of carbs! BUT the light has about 1/2 the calories and fat! And it is about $1 less! I looked at the carb option ice tea.... in tubs like crystal light. Well, I did not compare that.... it just seemed too silly! But of course you pay for the label Carb Option!
I guess my point is this..... They are out to take advantage of the consumer. We can take advantage of their products, but we need to be 'smarter' than they are! LOL We must read and compare the labels. We might not be saving carbs..... or anything else!

We'll just have to keep checking labels and comparing! Oftentimes, the "original" has a better nutrition for everyone.

Cheryl,
I checked out the peanut butter since my sister was raving about it. One tablespoon of each the low and the regular had exactly the same amount of calories. The only difference was that the low carb had 2 grams less of sugar. Now in my small mind that isn't even enough to worry about.

Mary Frances.... I don't count anything!
Cheryl,
Really the only time it is important to look at the sugar is when it is in something like cereal. If it is a cereal with sugar in it, you want it to be less than 9 grams per serving. This is reported as part of the carbs and then broken out. Because you are limiting yourself to 30 grams for breakfast you can't be eating a
No, I do not eat cereal.
See, I was punished...became diabetic! I hate this, and I'm so afraid next Wednesday they'll want to do something else (like insulin).
I'm envious of your BS numbers. It's been 1.5 months approx. since I was diagnosed. Then I had bilateral bursa steroid injections last week which really threw my numbers off kilter.
Keep up the good work and keep us informed. You can be an inspiration for me. Thanks
