I went to the doctor<?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />'s office today (4 days OTR) and I was so nervous. I thought taking out the drains would hurt - it did not. I thought taking out the one non dissolvable stitch would hurt - it did a little but not much. I was scared to death of what I was going to see and when the bandages came off and the drains came out - I was happily surprised at how good everything looked! I was expecting more swelling, ickyness etc but the doctor did a fantastic job. All of my incisions are so thin and really just a little raised red line. I am happy with the size and shape. So perky they hare a bit high and hard right now but both doc and nurse that will take care of itself. Doc says all I need to do is be patient and heal. Oui the hardest part! I am doing well but you know me impatient as always and I am sleeping ALL the time. I don't mind the sleeping but hate waking up and feeling groggy.   I do feel more fragile now that the massive bandages and ace bandages are off but again the doctor says I will be "settling into" my new shape over the next few weeks!

It feels so "weird" to feel so light and to be able to put my arms down and have them touch my sides etc. Going to try on some of the old tops later today and see how things fit differently!  I see some shopping in my future!  I will post some after photos soon as soon as I have the energy to take them.

I can shower tomorrow YEAH! So all in all I am on the mend and just need to remind myself that healing takes time. I do have times when I feel great and then out of no where this intense exhaustion will take over, but she said that is all to be expected. Yes she said even the bouts of tears for no apparent reason are normal. Darling husband has been so patient and attentive...but was probably a bit happy to go to work and be relieved of care taker for awhile!

I am still having BS that is a little higher than it should be - it is running about 160-190 2 hours after meals. I am going to call my PCP tomorrow to see is I should up my meds for a bit or not. It is just next to impossible forme to exercise right now. A 5 minute walk and I need a 2 hour nap! Doc says that should get better over the next 1-2 weeks. So I am trying to eat right and not too much till then.

Well that is about it for now.....I will update soon..I cannot stop looking down my shirt. Oh two more things 1. I already have full feeling already in my left nipple but not my right. I am hoping that comes back in time as well. 2. Right now I fit into a C cup with the gauze so It looks like I will be my desired B cup when the swelling goes down and I do not need to use gauze anymore....B or C  I am so thrilled. I will know exactly how many grams were removed when the doc gets the lab results back on Thursday. I go to see her again on the 17th. This seems like a long time - have others had that long in between appts?

Yipee...hoorey...ata girl!!!

I'm amazed that you have feeling in one nipple so soon. That's great.

I don't think you need to be overly concerned about the BS levels. Your body is still under a lot of stress!

Keep us informed of your progress. We care a lot about you!

Oh Michelle, I am so thrilled to hear that all went so very well for you at the doctors since I know how nervous you were about that. It sounds like your doctor did a fantastic job with hardly any scaring at all, which as

Hi Michelle! I'm glad you liked what you saw, it should certainly make the healing easier for you!

I'm probably going to be scheduled for a surgery in the coming weeks and I asked the CDE yesterday at an appt about how out of whack my sugars will be. She said that for atleast 3 days they'll be higher because of the stress, and that after that they should start to level out. My surgery will be a laparscopic one with considerably less recovery time than yours so I'd assume with your recovery time being 2-3 weeks longer, your body will be under more stress and will have higher sugars for longer.
