Does anyone have any good advice on where to get free diabetic supplies like test strips, needles, etc.? I don't have any insurance right now and am under-employed and having trouble paying the necessities, and I can't afford to buy those things. I don't want my health to suffer - I need to be able to check my BS daily at least. I have looked on the net and only found places that require you to have insurance or medicare. Since I don't have either of those things, I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas. Thanks for any help that you may have.

How about checking with your local American Diabetes Assoc. to see if they have some ideas.

Does your state have an assistance program for people who don't have insurance? We have AHCCCS. I don't know if they cover diabetes supplies, though.

Good luck.

Contact your local health department's family practice clinic. They may be able to help you get the supplies. Supplies are not one of the things that are usually covered by compassionate programs by the drug companies. Depending upon which meter you are using you can contact the manufacturer to see if they have a compassionate program. Also your doctor may be able to give you samples or request samples for you to help out.

I hope this helpful. Do stay well.
