Hello everyone - I thought I would post a quick note with how my BS levels have been during my recovery period. The good news is that my fasting levels have been exactly in range for the last 5 days. Where I have been running into trouble is after meals, especially after dinner when I get levels that are high in the area of 180-200. I finally called my doctor and he told me not to worry right now. He said that since I am not able to exercise beyond walking around my house (stairs are still tough) that he suspects that is the reason along with my body recovering from the stress of surgery. He said that as long as my fasting levels are ok he is comfortble giving it another 1-2 weeks to see the other levels come back to where they were. He also told me that perhaps I need not test quite so much as the stress of feeling like I will be to high can in itself make me higher. So I am testing at fating once after lunch and once before bed.
I like that my fasting levels have remained constant and I expect to only increase in activity over the next 1-2 weeks so hopefully things will level out again.
Otherwise I am healing day by day - I have to say Patience is not one of my strong virtues but I am learning it! I feel good generally but tire quickly and still have soreness where my drains were undermy arms. The doctor assures me that I look good and that this is hte last/hardest area to heal. I will see her again next Wednesday.
Thank you for all of your warm and encouraging words durig this time!

Hi Michelle, I am so glad that you called your doctor to find out if there was anything you could do to help get your blood sugars back in the more normal range for you. Glad to hear that your fasting blood sugars have come back down to your usual, which I know you were so worried about. It is so funny to worry about something that we diabetics should only to have it affect them so very much. At least you were reassured that things will eventually all be back to normal with some time, which I can so understand patience not being one of your virtues since it isn't one of mine either. LOL The things we must learn in order to heal ourselves.
Your doctor is so right about the drain plug area, because it is the hard and painful area
