I just started on insulin two days ago. My doctor wants me to do Weight Watchers. I am seriously thinking of doing that online. My big problem is breakfast and snacks. I have no appetite. I hate eating breakfast. Is there a snack bar/power bar that I can eat for breakfast and the snacks? I have another three weeks to go before I can go back. This lack of appetite thing is totally new to me. I know the drill but, I just don't want to eat. Anyone know anything fast that I can toss down my throat? LOL! I thought the injections would be th hardest part. Boy, was I wrong!

I am a lot like you, but I am hungry for my breakfast just not dinner though. I talked it over with my dietician to see what I could do for a quick dinner and found that she had many good things I could do instead of eating a big meal. I suggest that you get yourself a dietician to help with what you can do for the times you are not hungry for a full course meal. I am sure he or she will have some great suggestions for you, because as you know being on insulin you really need to eat your meals. I really hope you find something you can eat that does not cause you to be uncomfortable. Do let us know what you find that works best for you, because you never know how many others out there that have that same problem. Take care and have a great day!

Hi Jackie,

I am a type 2 diabetic who has been on insulin for the past three weeks. I am trying to manage my blood sugar and not gain an ounce, which isn't easy. I have been treating my hypoglycemic episodes with Glucerna bars. They come in a number of different flavors and two sizes: snack and meal. Look for them in the speciality section of your grocery store. If you don't want to try the glucerna but want to try a power bar look at the amount of carbos and try and match the glucerna bars. They are formulated to not raise your blood sugar as much as poweer bars will. There is also liquid glucerna available that you can drink like a milk shake. I don't know how that tastes because I haven't tried it. There are a number of other diabetic bars on the market but of the ones that I have tried I liked the glucerna the best and so that is why I recommend that one. Any of these bars are relatively expensive so beware.

I hope this helps. Let me know what you decide.
