heat, humidity and BS levels

Hi - Quick question for you all. I am reading all these posts about heat and everything and I have not yet had type 2 (at least diagnosed) through the summer. Should I be expecting the heat to have an effect on my BS level readinds? I know I need to keep my meter cool but I generally do not leave it in the car so I am not concerned withthat but I am interested in if the heat and humidity will affect my bs and which way? Thanks!

Hi Michelle,
I can only tell you that we are all different so I will just let you know from my own experience how heat and humidity affect my blood sugars. I find that heat causes my blood sugar to drop quickly as does humidity if it is at a high level at the time, which where I live we do not have trouble with humidity. When I went to Atlanta Georgia for a family reunion I found out that the humidity dropped my blood sugar, but not as quickly as the heat did though. So both do seem to drop blood sugars down, which makes for keeping something on hand at all time in case of a hypoglycemic reaction especially if it is going to be extremely hot while out and about. Hope this helps you some and that you have a fabulous day!
