Yes, that is super low for a 2 hour after meal blood sugar with the doctors usually liking to see between 80 and 120 range. So I sure hope you get yourself something to treat this right away before you drop any lower in blood sugar. Do let us know how you are after you take care of your low blood sugar or hypoglycemic one. Take good care and use caution in what ever you do until you get that blood sugar back up there.

Test again soon. If it's still low, suggest you consult your physician on-call or your ER.

Julie,

That is absolutely too low. You need to eat something immediately when your blood sugar is that low. Look at what you ate for dinner and analyse what you had. You obviously didn't have enough carbohydrates or proteins.

The problem with a blood sugar that low is that it deminished your higher level thinking. You can make the stupidist decisions when your blood sugar is that low. On top of that you can over tret it and swing too far in the other direction. When you get a low blood sugar learn if you can to recognize it before it gets this bad and have things on hand to readily treat it. This is why I carry glucerna bars in my purse. And have some liquids to drink after you eat your bar. It doesn't matter what kind you use. I just happen to like the glucerna ones.

I hope by the time you are reading this that you are feeling much better.

That 61 was about 2 hours after spagetti and lots of garlic bread.I even eat a couple of small candy bars in the day.About 4 hours before this test i was 161 so i was checking to see if it was still high.i checked this morning after having nothing all night and it was at 72.I have no medical insurance at this time im waiting for my husband employment to kick in, i used my husband test yesterday after his was jocking around saying my levels would be high becuase i eat to much candy. What should i do next! Is the low to med 70 a good sugar reeding?

Someone said thats Hyperglycemic but would that be the case with the higher reading and than low and staying kinder low.Should i check it on and off in the day and if it stays low than goes up is that o.k ? or the fact it went to 61 does that mean there is something wrong? sorry for so many questhions its hard without insurance.

If you ever get a reading that doesn't 'sound' or 'feel' right to you.... check your meter.

Actually my husband is the Diabetic not me, he was playing around saying check yourself because i eat so much candy. He was saying i bet yours will be really high, i checked it and it was 151.He said that was a little high but not to bad, so i cheked it 2 hours after dinner to see if it was high still but insead it was 61.I know he cheks his meter oftern and infact after that reading we changed the needle and he did his and it was spot on for him.I just dont know if i should be worried i was surprised to see it that low, plus i had a couple of small candy bars about 3 to 4 hours before that , they are the small twix with the 2 sticks. Also i have had a bad headache since yesterday morning, can that make that happen. The last couple of months they have been getting very bad also sometime i get light headed and see stars.

Julieh,

Have you been diagnosed with Hypogloxcemia? Based on what you have said and you're readings leads me to think you are Hypo. BUT I am no doctor so I urge you to go to a doctor. 61 is low.Even after eating. I would sugest you stop eating anything with sugar.
