Well im home, the doctor said im a hypo and that yesterday was Dangerously low, the nurse did not tell him I got that low.Im so angry at her and I think he was a little mad himself. I asked him what is dangerously low and he said that being in the 30’s is. I also asked should I call 911 at that point he said drink juice and it should go up. If it gets that low again im off to the ER .For all you ladies who are hypo can you please give me advice he gave me a care sheet and I also got my own meter. My husband had a diabetic band should I get one. Im sorry for so many?’s but yesterday so very scary for me.

Also im sorry if i did not take this more serious yesterday, i know you ladies were trying to help.I had no idea i had this.I think i was also thinking there's no way theres anything wrong with me.Oh i also told my mom to tell the doctor she works for she needs to go back to school after all she was the one that said i was o.k and had nothing to worry about. My husband said there is a gel you can get that you can carry in your bag and that if your levels get low you can eat it, where do i get this.I dont want to be out driving and have my levels drop. Also how low does it get for some of your ladies before you start to have syptoms.

THANK YOU ALL!!!

Julie,

That is a tough question because you can't tell how your system is going to react during the night. You just need to test your blood sugar immediately upon getting up and treat if needed. I think personally that a glad of milk is a better way to treat your hypoglycemia than orange juice. Unless the orange juice is part of your meal. this is because orange juice jacks your blood sugar up quickly and then it doesn't last and so your blood sugar drops quickly. Milk will raise it just as quickly but the protein in the milk will help keep it stabilized. An 8 ounce glass of milk has 15 grams of carbs.

I also think that you are off of sweets, no regular ice cream or making hard candy.

One other thing: You need to try and make sure your children are eating as nutritious diet as possible. What with a father who is a diabetic and mother who is hypoglycemic, they have a huge chance of having either disease. So please teach them to eat right and to get some exercise everyday and keep their weights are close to normal as possible.

This is going to be a healthy life style change for all of us. We are going to do this as a family. I have a couple of questions to ask

1. What is a good sugar level when I wake up?

2. What should it be at before I go to sleep?

3. And what’s a good range to stay in at all times the doctor said between 70 and 115 what happens if its over 115 is that bad also?

4. Where can I get a hypoglycemia medical bracelet, I see them for Diabetics only

I must say this weekend so far has been good, we normally go out all day and eat out; I eat very healthy and watched everything I eat and drank. We went to a healthy convention this morning and only once did I start to fill my heart start to race up, but I had a Glycerna bar on hand and felt better after a little while. I was talking to my husband this morning about all the things I have had happen to me in the last couple of years that the doctor could not explane.About 2 years ago I was taken into the hospital from having seizers and passing out, also severe headaches. I had had a very bad car accident a couple months before that and thought that could have been why I was feeling so bad. My husband took to get acupuncture done to try to help the headaches but instead on the way I started to have the seizers and had to get ambulanced. The doctor’s did the head scans but never checked my sugar levels that I know off. I remember just really feeling out of it and being very weak and fatigued. I was in there for a week and never got an answer looking back I wonder if this was it, at that time I was drinking 6 - 8 cans of regular soda a day (I know BAD me). Also when I was in there I had my husband bring me candy as I was a candy freak also, I guess that would explanie why I was not getting better. Just so much from the past couple of years is starting to make sense. Im so happy to finally find out so I can better myself and my health.

Hi Julie: Thank you for getting back to

us. If you hadn't, I would have worried

about you until you wrote back. Of course,

I'll worry about you anyway, being new to

your condition, because it will happen again

occasionally as it does to all of us, when

we get distracted from our schedule. Just

do your best to be on guard against the lows.

I'm so glad you saw your Doc, got some info,

a meter(a Very Important tool), etc. It's funny

and ridiculous the equipment they had back

when I was dxd with Juvenile Diabetes. Oh

well, it helped us through, that's the main

thing. Thank Goodness they have progressed. LOL!

When you are on the computer look at the time

at the bottom of the screen occasionally, so

you'll know if it's time for a snack, meal or

testing. We all know how fast time passes

when we're on the computer.

Big Hugs...Take Care...Good Luck...***Carlie*** ;)
