I recently read this article about cinnamon lowering blood sugar in people with diabetes and I was wondering what you folks knew about it, have you tried it? Has it helped? I'd love to know what you with experience have found out.

thanks,

Had heard of it before, someone said they drank Cinnamon tea to drop bs. Thanks for the link to the article- I have been curious about the 'amount' of cinnamon that must be ingested. 1/2 a teaspoon isn't too bad for a day- Too bad you can't substitute a Cinnabon! LOL Michele

Yes, I use cinnamon to help with my blood glucose. I use the ground cinnamon in cooking when I know that it won't make the dish unpleasant and will add to the taste (added to carrots when boiling or on sweet potato). I also drink a 'tea' that I make by boiling stick cinnamon in water in the microwave; I add a little Splenda to taste. I drink that after a meal that I think might be raising my blood glucose too much. I also think that it helps to boil a bay leaf with pasta when I cook it, and I only use whole wheat pasta. I have been known to chew cinnamon gum after a meal at a restaurant when I'm not too certain how it is affecting me. 2sweet02

Thank you so much Sharon for sharing that article with us. I am sorry to say that I do not have any experience with using cinnamon, but it does make me very curious about it now though. I may even try drinking some cinnamon tea to see if there is any changes in my blood sugar. It really is amazing what you find out in some articles especially of things you thought would never lower blood sugar and than you read an articale like this that tells you other wise. It might help some of us, but may not for all of us. I really believe it depends upon the person using it since it is common for some medications to work for some and not for others. So I shall see what happens when I try it out later on when I pick some cinnmon tea up. Take care of yourself and do have a fabulous day!

Sharon~

Yes, have read about it in medical journal articles and on-line. I love cinnamon, and if

applesauce wasn't so high in carbs for me, I'd have it everyday loaded with cinnamon!

Thanks for the additional ideas for cinnamon! I wondered about using boiling water and soaking a stick. Now I know I'll try it.
