Update from eye doctor appointment!

Well, what I thought was going to be a wonderul eye visit turned out to not be that way at all. The doctor began by telling me that I have an infection or as the other doctor put it an ulcer. I was also told that the cornea is one of the worse places to have an infection since it can cause some prolon effects on vision and the eye itself. I did tell him that it did get smaller so I know that it is healing, but he replied with it is still there and that is not good, but that we need to get it gone right away. So I was given a sample of new eye drops and a prescription for it as well. He did manage to tell me that the drops are one of the most expensive at $70 a bottle, which we did not take the prescription in to see if it covered under the insurance or not so we shall see soon enough though. We did call the pharmacy to ask about side effects and what not, which the pharmacist told us that there was not major side effect other than it is passed out through my urine. She also did say it is one of the strongest ones out there and asked jokinly if there was any other bugs I needed informatiion about. LOL I have been with the pharmacy for over 16 years now in which I get the best service possible and feel I can call them if I have any questions at all on any medication so that is great to know.

So I am once again with no contact in my right eye since I have to go with out it until I get the all is clear, which is depressing to me since I cannot do to many things. I have my next appointment set up for Friday morning in which I hope and pray that my eye is all better, because I want to get back to my normal vision and my normal daily things. I know it will come soon if I believe it will. Just gotta get myself in believing it will now so that it will come sooner than later.

Well, that is my update for you all on my eye appointment. I also made one for getting my vision checked since i cannot very well have it checked with this infection so my vision check is set for next June when DH should be done with his classes put on by the state here in which he will be able to get a job starting lowest salary rate of $12.98 all the way up to $20 + an hour so we are keeping our hopes up that they find him a good job with some great benefits as well since medical insurance is so vital with a family not to mention my medical needs. Take care all and do have a wonderful day!

Denise~

Thanks for reporting in. I was (& am) concerned about you.

You didn't say anything about the drops affecting you if you're pregnant. What's happening there?

Hope things work out for your husband and his job.

:-)

Hi Kathi, we did call the pharmacy when we got home before I even used one drop since it had some warnings about using if pregnant. The pharmacist told us it was a ok to use since I was not using all that much a day so need to worry about that part. I always check on medications when I did not get a prescription filled, but was given a sample to get by for a day in which we always read the insert about the medication. I have been doing the drops as directed at 4 times a day and that is just fine with me since doing them every hour seemed exhausting at times especially when you get so relaxed and are late to do one dose and now I don't have to worry about it at all with only needing to do a drop 4 times a day now. That is a piece of cake to me. hehehe Just gotta hope that this drop does the job for me, because

Denise,

I hope the new med helps as this is an extremely uncomfortable condition not even considering that you can't see very well. Good luck Friday.

Hugs to all,

Mary Frances

I'll be thinking and praying about you and your eye problem. It is too bad that Rx costs so much. Do take care with your eye, and if doesn't look as if it is improving, let the Dr. know. Corneal ulcers can be a real problem; I've seen more of them than I can even remember. Dogs and cats get them quite easily from running through the grass and weeds, which cut the cornea, then it becomes infected as well.

The best of luck to your DH in his job hunt; may he find one with good pay and medical benefits as well. 2sweet02

Denise keeping my fingers crossed here and praying that the infection goes away REALLY fast!

I'm what I "delicately call".....blind as a bat!! especially without my glasses on. Know how frustrating I find that, especially if I drop my glasses, so I can only imagine a small bit of what you must be going through. Then having a family to care for at the same time, and this kind of problem must be hard for the children to know whats going on!!

Must confess, I usually have my last pair of glasses in my van(just in case something happens away from home. The pair before that are in my bedside drawer....so if I drop my regular pair I can at least find them on the floor BEFORE i step on them!

Hopefully the eye heals completely and very FAST!!

Thank you Mary Frances! DH says it is getting even smaller as of today so I am so happy to hear that and will be even happier to hear it is gone so that I may get back to my usual sight once again not to mention my normal daily things. I will let you know how Friday goes for me with the eye of course. Take good care and do have a fabulous day!

Thank you so much for the prayers, because I know that they are working already with DH telling me that my cornea ulcer is getting even xmaller so I am very hopeful in that it will be gone soon. I know it is not fun or a great feeling at all especially with it being on the ichy side and rather bothersome when it comes to blinking.

We are very thankful for your good wishes for my DH's job search, because he sure can use all the thoughts as possible since it is such a tough job market these days. I will of course let you know when he has found a

Thank you Kathi for your concern, but my eye is getting better with the ulcer getting smaller as of today. So I really think it will be gone soon with the helps of the drops that are perfectly safe if pregnant. I will be announcing in another post of my test results concerning that so do check that post out.

We do believe that DH will find a great job with good pay after he does the 7 weeks of class with the help from those who are holding the class helping him find one. So that we are confident in and I know it will

Well, I'm glad someone enjoys me! I'm still licking my wounds little. MaryFrances filled me in.

Eye doctor: I went to see my opthalmologist yesterday for my 6-month checkup. I have a little cataract that we've been watching for about 2 years. Not a problem. Says it won't cause me trouble for probably 20-30 years. Well, my mom had surgery on both eyes when she was 83. I'll be happy if I last that long!

My pressures went from 19 in both eyes to 15 in both eyes! That's so good...

I sure don't want to go blind. I enjoy reading too much.

Am trying to get through the DIABETES II, THE FIRST YEAR. However, received three books from Literary Guild yesterday, and they're calling my name! It's not unusual for me to be reading 3 books at a time. Guess after all these years, my college skills still are hanging in. I compartmentalize...unfortunately, have done this with my life, also. That's why I've been in such a mess for the last few years. Maybe if I take the diabetes one slowly, it'll sink in.

The doc said that if the testing in 6 months was good, I'd only have to see him once a year. That would be too bad. He's eye candy for sure! (hee hee)

I use to think my Endocrinologist was eye candy for a while with a great personality, but after I met my husband that all disappeared. How ever all my girlfriends who have met him say what a good looking man. LOL When I was in the hospital pregnant with my first son all the nurses kept asking me who that was, which I would reply my endocrinologist and they would of course than ask if he was single or married. I would have to tell them that he is divorced and has had a long term girlfriend for some time now. They would say that means he is still on the market then. bahahaha I have to admit that he does gain weight come winter time, but always looses it come warm weather time and that seems to amaze the nurses after seeing him heavier and than down to his usual.

We have something in common with the love of reading, which I have found myself doing the same thing with reading many different books at the same time instead of finishing one before moving onto another one. I just have to read one that I find and begin, which I read for a day than go back to another one I had already started. I guess something about my brain that says to allow myself to let anything I have read sink in some before continuing on with the same book. I know how it seems strange, but that is how my brain works for some reason.

Wow, your lucky with your doctor even going to allow you to go to once a year if all looks good. I can only get 6 months in between my visits if all is going well for me. How ever he usually prefers to see me every 3 months, but I have to admit that I have not seen him in a super long time since I cannot afford to see him yet. He did not take our insurance no longer in which we were not told until we received a bill and we just recently asked if he still takes state medicaid and he does no longer take that. So I will be doing the wait to see when we have the extra money for me to go in, but I know if I have any problems or questions I can call him on his cell phone or at the office. So I don't worry so much about it until I have to get in there than I will begin
