I read a great answer to this, but can't remember where. I'd really like your ladies' reply. DS has to find out before I start checking my bs next week (I'll probably have to take him to the appt with the cde next week, although he can sit in the lobby). I'm not sick or hurting, but something is definitely going on. How do I explain diabetes to him so I'm not lying, but so that he doesn't get overly concerned (he's very sensitive)? I'm stumped.

Show him the meter, strips and lancets. Let him hold a lancet so he can see that it's not like a regular needle. Until (well, maybe even now) a few years ago, all needles were large to me. I really didn't know how large they can be until my rheumatologist started injecting my hip bursas! I've always had a fear of needles.
Good luck next week with the CDE. I'll be thinking of you.

Watched a program on PBS on obesity & diets today. You can see the contents at
www.pbs.org. It's very interesting.
Managed to get myself signed up for another walking program. Think I may order their pedometer. Can't seem to get mine working properly. Wish I could figure out a way to wear it in the pool since I water walk and do a water aerobic program. I may have to contact the American on the Move people to see if they have suggestions.

Nancy and Kathi,
I want to caution you that you can not live your life without meeting those items that you really enjoy, whether it is pasta or a baked potato. And there are no prohibitions on having these items. In the case of a baked potato you can have 3 ounces which is about 1/2 of the usual home variety of potato. In a restaurant they pride themselves on their supper sized potatoes and they can be up to a pound. Do be careful with
Thanks for reminding us.
