I guess blasting it with 4 mg. of Avandia and 2000mg. of metformin a day is getting my act together. Went in today for the blood test repeat, and the nurse was confused by what I needed retested so she asked the PA. He asked what my numbers had been lately, and when he found out, I got to skip the retest (yeah! save some money!).

This morning my fasting was 106, but has been 109, 85, 113, 106, 113,111 this week in the am. My evening numbers have been 90, 89, 146 (pasta!), 120, 88, 125, 144 (pasta!)this week. I think we are finally getting where we need to be. However, I have not been working this week, and I eat when I want to, which is not as often as I should... usually when my stomach is growling loudly! I told dh if I gave up eating completely, my numbers would be completely normal! I think mine has a lot to do with stress too. It is very hard for me to be idle and not take on new challenges. This last week on spring break I have tried to take it easy and not work too hard. Dh thinks I should avoid all projects and work for my job during my summer break from school. I don't know how, I thrive on these projects b/c they add spice to the routines of my job. That and our summer breaks get shorter by the year- I have 6 1/2 more weeks of school, and then school resumes Aug. 1st. Michele H.

Michele,

Congratulations on your improving numbers. The standard of care recommends that you have your A1C done every 3-4 months. So don't let it slide next time.

I can stand about 2 weeks off work and then I start to get really bored so I don't know what I would do with your schedule! And as a creative person, I am sure you get much satisfaction from dreaming up new ways to make education fun and interesting for your students.

Happy Easter!
