WELCOME!!!
Guess I'm not much of a newbie now. Was diagnosed mid-January and am on Amaryl 8mg daily and metformin-ER 500mg daily. The metformin is giving me grief! Plan to call the PA Monday to discuss what's up.
Congrads on starting the diabetes education classes next week. You'll learn lots of stuff. Do you have a meter already? What kind is it? How are your numbers so far?
There are lots of fruits that have potassium besides bananas. Yep, they're high in sugar, but if you plan it, you should be able to eat them. I can't remember the other fruits and vegs, but it seems that strawberries and dark green vegs might help.
I had a period when I was having really crampy legs several years ago and one of the docs at the ER where I was doing a consult suggested quinine water. YUK!!!
You know, it might be the caffeine, but have you considered that you may be on the point of dehydration? Be sure you drink lots of water.
Our CL's will be answering you in the next day or two. They have a wealth of knowledge to share with you.
Again, welcome to our group. Ask lots of questions and we'll try to answer. You will want to share your info as well. One person may need just what you have to share!
