Ok I am hypogloxcemia, Now do I consider myself a type 2 diabetic or not a diabetic.       There is alot of info out there and I am confused. Some say hypo is a borderline diabetic and can say you are. but what am I?

type 1 or type 2 or not at all?

If I needed emergency help would they treat me as a diabetic?       I wear a diabetic chain around my neck and I scratched it out and put Hypoglocemia on it.

Teehee! I didn't know that we typed with that much of an accent! I'm from next door in GA, and spend a lot of time in AL, because that's where my DH's family were raised. I am a redneck too! 2sweet02

Thanks Donna!

I'm okay, just still a bit sleepy with a little headache. Only did a half day at work today--could barely keep my eyes open!

It kind of freaked me out, cuz I haven't had a sustained reaction in quite a while....usually just a little shakiness if I wait too long for lunch. I just keep reminding myself that I used to have it every single day (I don't know how I was able to function!!!).

What I'd like to do in the next couple weeks (maybe in a month after school ends) is just put together a document that summarizes everything I've been able to learn from my research and personal experience. I am frequently getting into discussions with people, explaining how insulin and glucagon work, and what the glycemic index is. Then I can just put the document on my web server and send people the link if they need info.

Another tip: sugars in the ingredients listing often dn with "ose"--sucrose, maltose, dextrose, etc. Fructose (fruit sugar) and sucralose (Splenda--a sweetener made by altering sugar so it doesn't affect most people's blood glucose) are the safest bets. Also, fructose and high fructose corn syrup are NOT the same thing! Other 'names' for sugar can be maltodextrin, cane syrup, honey (yes, it's as bad as regular sugar), corn syrup.

I will post to this board as soon as I have a document put together!!!!

Now, back to the books...found another book on hypoglycemia. Nothing new so far, but hopefully I'll pickup something here and there!

Would like to have you post the whole grain biscuit recipe. That would be great!

Have you gone to www.joslin.com for info on the hypoglycemia. I have a hunch they might have up-to-date info for you.
