Is a challenge, but I just found the COOLEST thing...at Wendy's dotcom they have a build-a-meal feature- you can click on your favorite meal and see all the nutritional information. After seeing that my favorite meal is twice the carbs as I am allowed at a meal, I was able to click on the food, and delete some of the add-ons, like the taco chips on the taco salad that I usually can pass up. I was able to print out two meals that have only 35 and 45 carbs each- and I plan to keep the printouts in my car so when I have to go to fastfood, I can choose wisely! This might help you develop meals of your own- b/c if we plan what we are going to eat before we go somewhere, then half the battle is won! LOL Michele H.

McDonald's has one too. I've found that an Egg McMuffin and hashbrown, or a 6piece chicken nugget(no sauce) and small order of fries are both under 50gm carbs each.

This is quite interesting. I didn't about this. Thanks for posting it. I knew if you went into the fast food joint you could find this posted on the wall. But it is a lot better to think about what you want before you are faced with ordering it.

Thanks,

Mary Frances

yeah...the calculator does all the grunt work for you, too!

I'll have to see how the salads at Wendy's add up...

And since I found the Wendy's, I also discovered McDonald's,Burger king, Subways, etc. If you have a favorite chain restaurant, you can go to their website and see if they post nutritional information too. McDonald's also gave information about food allergies- I wanted to try their taco salad, but now won't b/c I get migraines from MSG and they have it in the taco meat. Like I said earlier, a lot more restaurants have low carb items marked on their menus or a separate menu. Applebees didn't- but I finally settled on grilled tilapia with fresh mango salsa on a bed of rice with mixed vegs. I didn't eat the rice b/c it was blah- just plain white rice. Might of been one of my best choices in a while NOT to eat the rice??? That is one good thing about the Metformin- if I CHOOSE not to eat something, then I don't- this is something I have never been able to do in my life!! Michele H. (I was bad once this weekend- dh and I shared a frozen lemonade at MGM Studios- but my bs was in normal ranges 2 hrs later- but who knows what it spiked too!)
