I thought this might be fun. As I read through everyones posts you pick up on certian foods that some avoid and others don't so much. Diabetes seems to be such an individual disease. Basically we all must be careful with carbs and sugar..but for each of us those things are a little different.

What I have learned..is that I HAVE to stay away from crackers. Even the whole wheat kind. I love crackers. The other day I bought these imported healthy ones thinking I might get away with it cause of all the whole grains and organics and stuff. LOL..NO WAY! I had maybe 5 or so..2 hrs later I was 184. I'm not sure anything effects me more then crackers! Bummer

I'm hypo--WHITE RICE is my worst, even worse than potatoes or chocolate cake! Corn starch is a huge problem for me too!

Potatoes are really hard for me, especially mashed one. I really like garlic mashed potatoes but I have to be really careful and if I eat potatoes I try to eat them with lunch.

Well you can add blueberry pancakes to my list. I mean ..honestly..I knew it was a really really bad choice when I ordered it. I was soooo hungry..and I love them sooooo much. I was afraid to check my numbers 2 hrs later. Thought about skipping it and pretending the whole thing didn't happen. LOL.....But there it was... the big 184. Noooooo....I'm not diabetic. Oh and let me add this...an hr after that ....175...noooooo I'm not diabetic. LOL

Mine is 6 inch sub sandwiches from subway (300+!!!) and coke, the 'real thing'- (300+). Of course, haven't had either of these foods in eons!! Rice and potatoes don't bother my bs. We went off traveling for the weekend and I tried to be good- it is hard to order at restaurants when waiters are sometimes in a hurry to get that order and they don't know how the food is made... some learned more about their products this weekend b/c I sent them to find out!! I did notice more and more restaurants with 'low carb' menus or choices...it makes it easier to pick something out and then question how it is made! Michele H.
