Well here goes this is what i took from the class i NEVER KNEW ! that you dont have to "buy into" the sugar free this that & the other just watch your carbs i was counting sugar Duh ! .It really is a sellers market & i find that sad.The class i took yesterday was 6 hrs long by several nurses & dietician's,they took us individual & told us how many carbs to count & to shoot for during each meal & snack (somthing i NEVER knew).I was aware of the complications loss of limbs, dyalisis, blindness we all face but can avoid with diet & exercise it can all be "controlled" even with my family it runs rampant, i am still the driver of my destiny so to speak.I need to get on the stick & quit thinking about how "i need to do things" & just actually DO IT quit fooling myself saying im borderline when im not any sound good advice & info from this board can only be a plus...Lee Anne :o)

LeeAnn~

It's sure an awakening, huh? I learned a whole bunch in my classes. I was so excited because I was losing 1 to 1.5 lbs per week during that time, also. Lost a bit more in February & March, but something went screwy (me, probably) last week. Have gained back about 3 # of the almost 30 I'd lost. Back on the program...

Good luck with all the new info. If you want a link on the computer, go to

www.joslin.com or www.diabetes.org for good info. See if you can find the

book DIABETES II, THE FIRST YEAR. I'm learning even more from it. A board member

suggested the book and I'm finding it useful.
