Just thought I'd come here and vent. Last night the kids and I rented some cheesy movie and got popcorn. It was Kettle Corn. Not sure if you know what that is or not..but for those of you who don't,,,it's this wonderful, yummy, melt in your mouth popcorn, that is both sweet and salty. I haven't eaten any in a very long time. Like maybe last summer. Anyways...so I eat this perfect popcorn..and BAM. Out like light!!!! The kids were yelling and trying to wake me..the movie was scary and they would jump every now and again, plus we had the volume real loud. I laid there in the middle..fast asleep at 8:00..with my empty bag of popcorn on my chest. I missed 3/4 of the movie! I have no idea what my numbers would have been ...I ran out of test strips, and even if I had any there was no way I could've tested, I was just too sleepy. I knew what was happening too...I kept thinking how much I would have loved some insulin. How funny...to drift off in the middle of a movie wishing you had insulin. I guess no more popcorn for me. Unless of course I have trouble trying to sleep..in which case I can have some. HA

Problem is though..I'm finding almost everything I eat makes me sleepy now. I am also so thirsty it's driving me crazy. I'm starting a new job on Monday and I really have no idea what to pack for food. I cannot get all dopey and foggy my first day on a new job. This also means I have to cancel my dr app on the 7th. Not only does my dr not know what he is doing..but his office hrs are horrible also. I think the latest he books is 4:00, 3 days a week. It's going to take forever to get that time slot. I am so tired of this.

Probably your blood sugar was in 150-200 range. Hopefully I said! It could have been over 200. Better get some strips so that you know what you are dealing with and yes Kettle Corn has a lot of melted butter and sugar on it. Mother here needs to say that it wold be better if you taught your kids to eat their popcorn plan and not slathered with butter and sugar! Now I will shut up about that!LOL

What to take to eat on Monday. I would suggest that you take some of the mini carrots and some nuts with you and a bottle of water plus a sandwich or something like that if you are going to need to eat in at lunch time. Of course this is what you would take if you are a teacher or an office worker. If your job is more strenousous than that you will need to take more with you. Do figure on eating something in the middle of the morning and the middle of the afternoon as

i dont have a box of kettlecorn here but thought the listing on the side of both that and the sweetn buttery ones do NOT list a very high sugar content. although im guessing it might also depend on how well that gets spread around the popcorn.

just looked, the sweet n buttery kind doesnt even list the sugars...says not a signifiant source of sugars...its i think 15 carbs. but the fat is high.

i think i had tried the kettle corn version that was 95% fat free or something like that....and i didnt like the taste of something in it.

but with any popcorn.....unless its air popped i dont really trust that whatever coating there is is evenly distributed(but that is just a personal foible probably)

Well,,my kids think I'm crazy and will not eat it. Either will hubby. I have to say though...the last time I got really tired from eating something it was crackers..my reading was 205. Friday night was worse. So I'm thinking my number was well above the 200 mark. OOPS!

As for my job. I'm an interior house painter. I just landed an awsome job yesterday here in town for with a new home builder. Apparantly, the job is very fast paced with lots of strenous activity. Which I love. I'm gonna be up and down ladders all day..painting with rollers..brushes and sprayers. I'll be burning calories all day. Yipee! Me and about 100 male construction workers. HA Lets not point that part out to hubby.

I've only seen kettle corn made at the county fair in the big copper pots. Maybe when they package it they control the amount of sugar and butter.

Good luck on your job and I amsure you will be using more phsyical activity than usual so watch that you don't drop too low.

Outside my office window in my house is my hummingbird feeder. Talk about sugar! Anyway I am on the migratory route again this spring and I have been watching hummingbird territorial wars. Quite funny to watch. Boy have they been drinking the nectar this week.

Have a great week, stay well hydrated and enjoy your job!

Congrads on the new job!

Do you have a cooler you can take? How about a small bottle of gatorade so your electrolytes don't get depleted and you get dehydrated. Sure would take a couple of bottles of water (like 32oz), and maybe half an orange. That's besides the sandwich and what MaryFrances suggested. Want to keep hydrated and your levels under control.

I never eat theatre popcorn anymore. Don't trust the oil they use. In fact, since my x-h took both the airpoppers with him, I seldom have popcorn at all. Tried some Act II a while ago, but it was during the time my BG was up & down anyway so can't say it was bad or good.

As far as cancelling the doctor's appt., how about taking a break for the appt or scheduling it earliest in the day?

Go get the strips!!!

Too bad you don't live closer to me. I need some painting done! ;-)
