Diabetes Expo-just a quick post

I'm not going to go through posting page after page. No one seems interested. If you have a Diabetes Expo near you, I suggest you attend. Hopefully, it'll have a greater variety than ours did.
However, this link might interest a few:
www.delladiabetes.com It's a book, recipes and CD by several singers.
The number to call if you don't want to request via her website: 1-866-463-6342
She talked for a little over an hour. She was dx 4 years ago. During filming an episode of "Touched By An Angel", she got really dizzy and ill. She flew home to LA, went to Cedars of Siani(sp), and they hospitalized her. Anyway, her speech was good and a little funny. Her story probably will be in the book so I won't repeat it. Quite a few Black women singers have died from the complications of diabetes. SAD...

Our expo admission was $7; no lunch. The Civic Center has a sort of deli in the conference rooms. Believe me, there sure was poor planning. There wasn't much for a diabetic to eat. I didn't. It was grease, grease, carbs and more carbs, and nothing below $6.
The parking was supposed to be $7, too, but God must have been looking out for me. After walking 3 miles back to the parking structure, the security had lifted the gates so I didn't have to pay for parking. I was glad of that. I actually think they took pity on me. I must have looked a fright! I was just about dropping between the distance, carrying all the materials, the heat, and my hip & knee hurting.
Isn't that just like life?
She said (forgive the spellings) Mahaillia Jackson, and named two other legendary Black women singers who had diabetes, lost their legs and died. She said she didn't want to lose her legs and sure didn't "'want to die right yet'"!
She's quite personable. It was well worth my rambling around looking for the jewelry. I messed around without even knowing she was coming. Just goes to show you that if I'd read my paper once in a while, I'd know what was going on!
Yes, she played Suzzane Sugarbaker. I still can't think of her name! I didn't know about Mahalah Jackson either. I think we all need to remember the mantra: do what is necessary to protect your eyes, kidneys and feet. If you put it taht way there are any number of things you will do that you wouldn't otherwise do.
Get some rest!
