This has sparked a new question for me. What exactly happens to the numbers? Everyone mentions "outta wack" or "funny"....but what exactly does that mean? Do they run higher then normal? Lower then normal? Quick drops? Just lookin to get the heads up.

Mine have been high! They started on Friday morning with a fasting level of 136 (normal for me is 93-100) and Friday night I was hit hard with what I thought to be a cold but turned out to be the flu. Last night my numbers were normal at bedtime, 109, so I thought I was on the upswing and getting over it. This morning's fasting was again high though, 145 and I was feeling nasty. Doctor said that whatever it is I have has gone from viral to bacterial, causing the numbers to still be out of whack! I'm so ready for this to be gone! I'm starting to get some taste back, so am hopeful that my bedtime and tomorrrow's fasting levels will be ok.

Thr reason I'm asking too is this...I had the OGTT done last Jan. I got quite sick from the drink. Bad headache, nausea, and later that day a fever. I stayed sick for about 36 hrs. Also too, I was suppose to eat a high carb diet for 3 days prior to the test. I kinda forgot that part till the day before. I did eat a bunch of stuff when I realized, and at the time my diet was high in carbs anyways. (Looking at the diet now however, I would have slept for three days). Anywhoo... I have a point here. When I saw my dr after the test I told him how I reacted. He said that the drink would not have caused a fever ( I would break out in a sweat right before I vomitted)and felt I may have had a touch of the flu. There was one going around at the time which was causing all the same symptoms. He asked too if I followed the 3 day diet and I lied and said yes. At the time though, I thought I had followed it. Like I said, my diet was high in carbs anyways...just not that high. Ooops! So now I'm wondering...if this may have given me a false normal reading. Like honestly, how could my numbers stay so normal after that drink when a bag of popcorn almost puts me in a coma?!? I don't want to take the test again though. Just thought I would see what you all think.

Illness, stress, some athletic activities will raise BG levels.
