Julie,

Your doctor really needs to tell you how he wants you to handle this. I would think that you needed a measured amount of carbohydrate and some protein. I wouldn't use the glucose tab because it raises your blood sugar too quickly and allows it to fall quickly.

This is only my opinion and please ask your doctor. It really is his responsibility to tell you how he wants you to treat this. This is really no different than giving you a perscription for medications.

My one other caution is that I wonder if your doctor really wants you going to be with a blood sugar in the 70's. I personally would feel more comfortable if you reported that it was between 90 and 100. You see even in cyber space we can worry!

So please let us know what you doctor suggests.

Okay...Mary Frances...I just had a thought...my bs has been in the 80's a few times a week now. Should I go back to the PA? I don't feel any different, no hypo. episodes per se. I guess this is good news, but I also have some 129's, an occasional 140...or should I wait to see if it goes any lower or I have any hypo. symptoms? My fasting average is 116...another yeah! I sure would like to decrease the amount of Avandamet I take if I could- I am taking 2x1000 twice per day. But I also know that when they did the Cpeptide the end of Feb. and insulin test that both of these were high- my pancreas was working in overdrive...I would rather stay with a bs of 80 if that meant my pancreas could take a rest!! My fasting bs has been between 75-87 for a few weeks now. I feel pretty good actually. My PA never told me what I should be fasting at, but she knows that I dont' like the low 70's. I woke one am with a 59 bs...that I really hated but I seem to have that licked. My blood sugars are very controlled right now, even after pizza it was 105 after 2 hrs. Not sure if this is a gfoood thing but like I said I feel good.

Hello,

I have been lurking on this board for awhile. Hope you don't mind if I jump in.

I have hypoglycemia.

When you described your meal, and the way you felt the next morning, I can just share what makes a difference for me.

I can't have corn very often. Porkchops and green beans, maybe a salad with some olive oil type of dressing helps me and a tiny bit of brown rice (just a slight difference from your meal) Then some almonds or string cheese before bed with water help to keep my levels steady. I know this has really eliminated my headaches.

It has taken me a long time to discover what really works for me. I also have some food allergies.

Corn, just spikes my sugar a bit too much.

Just some thoughts to share. Hope you don't mind my barging in.
