sorry to hear you had a crash also, i get lots of them in the night also.I will wake up feeling like crap and normall be in the 60 or 50's it's hard because there is nothing you can do to stop is at night!

I hate it when it happens it takes time to get back to normall, i think i had a bad one of Friday as well.I was feeling very tired and was with out a machine to test as hubbie took it to a over night trip (his Diabetic).i was feeling very tired and out of it so i went to lay down on the couch next thing i knew was my 3 year old standing in front of me with her jack in the box.I have no idea how low it could have gone as i have been down to 32 and did not fall asleep but i did fill very tired when that happend.

Julie,

Hi there. My name is Rose and I am hypo also.

Do you keep a food diary at all?

It might help to keep one for awhile to see if there is a certain combination of foods that cause the dip. It also might be helpful to see the mix of carbs/proteins/fats

that you are eating to see if increasing or decreasing one of the combination might help.

What type of crackers do you nibble on when you crash? Have you tried crackers and a nut butter (almond or peanut) when you are feeling so low?

Crashes are the worse. Sometimes it feels like it takes forever to feel normal again.

Hope you are feeling better.

Have you tried some protein with your crackers?

Fiber combined with protein is a great sugar pick up, and stabilizer. I have used rye toast crackers, rice crackers and bran crackers with almond butter many times. I try to find crackers that are low in carbs, higher in fiber and with as few additives as possible.

I mentioned in another post, my Mother is hypo, so, I have learned alot from her. Of course each of us is different.

I also take a chromium supplement every morning. This maybe something to check with your doctor about first. But, I think a small dose might help stabilize your sugar. Brewers yeast is another great blood sugar stabilizer.

Its great to meet you.
