Breakfast cereal question

Hi,

I have a question regarding eating cereal in the morning. It seems that no matter what kind of cereal I eat, two hours later my number is at least 170 or higher. Even with the high-fiber cereal, like Kashi, and using skim milk, this happens. I'm not sure if it's the milk that's causing this. The total carbs is probably around 30 grams. When I eat something else with that number of carbs (e.g. toast, english muffin, kashi waffles) my numbers are normal. Has anyone else experienced this with cereal? If not, what kinds of cereal do you eat?

Thanks!

Jo

Jo, you did not say if you are measuring the exact amount of cereal your eating or not. I just know that trying to estimate when it comes to cereal is hard since each cereal has their own given amount for an individual serving. If I have cereal I eat Bran or Cheerios multi grain, but I generally prefer to have old fashioned oatmeal instead since it is great to get warmed up in the early morning before the weather heats up if it does. You also might try to measure the amount of milk you put in your cereal so that way you are getting the cup of milk that most of us have for breakfast. This is just my suggestion, but by no means am I any kind of nutritionist or medical person. I sure hope this helps you out some and that you figure out what is causing your blood sugar to rise. Take care and do have a wonderful day!
