Well, actaully just the fasting the other one will not be in till tomorrow and they are closed tomorrow. Anywhoo...turns out my monitor is LOWER then the lab. My 16hr fasting lab result was 110. My monitor said 102. The secretary said my dr said he wants to wait for the second result but that the 110 is too high for someone who's fasted 16 hrs and is on Metformin. My fasting number is higher now then it was in Jan. Then it was 88. Now what?????????????

Your fasting is higher than before, but still is not bad at all. I can understand why your doctor thinks it is high though with your using metformin and thinking it would be lower this time. Remember though each medications does not mean it will work for everybody and this might be your case or either that your doctor might want to increase your dosage or switch to different medication.

All you can do is wait to see what your other result is so that your doctor will know even more. I know it is hard though with the waiting, but your doctor is the only one who can tell you what from here since they are the professional. I do hope you get a good result and don't need to do anything different than you already are doing. Do let us know what you find out when you can. Take care and have a super great weekend!

The reading with your meter is within the normal variation between the differrent tests. What will happen now is depending upon your A1C reading, is that your doctor will make an adjustment in the amount of metformin that you are taking. He may increase your doseage. My humble opinion is that you really don't need an increase but I am not a doctor, just a nurse. You can perhaps keep this from happening by increasing your exercise and decreasing the amount of food that you are eating.

So let's see what your A1C reading is. I hope it is under 6.5 and I would suspect that it would be.

Have a good weekend,
