Diabetic and Pg - what to eat?

Hello!

I'm trying to help my sister-in-law who is newly pregnant and having a hard time with keeping her sugar up during the day. She has been insulin dependent for about 12 years and regularly monitors her health but the pregnancy is definitely making a difference.

To all you BTDT women, do you have any suggestions for easy snacks during the day, not disturbing her work routine? Please keep in mind morning sickness may be well on it's way!

I appreciate any response!

Thanks

kym

I can only suggest that she try snack bars since they do help to raise blood sugar and some even have like peanut butter in them that will help to keep her blood sugar up for longer with peanut butter being in the protein family. She might also like the Glucerna bars or shakes. I really hope she finds something that works for her, but she is not alone at all in having this problem since I am also pregnant while having the very same problem as her with keeping my blood sugar up. So she is not at all alone with this. Take care and have a super great day!

Thanks Denise!

Are you due in Nov or Dec? I'm actually from the December EC myself. Due 12/29 with #3!

Good Luck!

Your so very welcome kym. I am also from the December EC and due December 3 with also #3 our first little girl so we have lots in common with diabetes and being due in December, which I know is great since most of the ladies I know who are pregnant are not diabetic so they have no clue as to how much work it takes to have a healthy baby when it comes to monitoring blood sugars.

Do drop me a post when you have time or even an e-mail at wigglypiggie@qwest.net so that way we can keep in touch. Take care of yourself and do have one super great day!

Hi there. Have your sis try peanutbutter/crackers. they are really easy to toss in a purse & eat. & there is some protein in there to balance the carbs. I was gestational w/ my first & type 2 with my 2nd. CHeese & crackers and PB & crackers were really life savers for me
