Hi everybody,

My husband and I and all my stuff are going on vacation. Wish me luck! I have to take my insulin, my syringes, 2 meters, a doseage calculator and food. I am going to figure out how to travel with insulin and this should be an interesting situation she said sarcastically! I am going on a cruise to St. Petersburg, Russia. My husband has wanted to go there for several years and I finally agreed if he could find a cruise. So of course he did! This is really my first trip dealing with the different time zones and taking insulin. I am still having severe hypoglycemia reactions when I least expect them and so I am traveling with extra food. But because I will be on a ship it should be easier to manage the food situation than my trying to find a restaurant in a country where I don't speak one word of the native language.

But I intend to continue getting my exercise every day and I will watch my blood sugar carefully. I am told by the people at work that I look horrible when I have a hypo episode and that doesn't count on how I feel! I had a long discussion with the CDE the other day and I am going to try what she has suggested. I'll let you know when I get back how I did.

I leave Monday morning at about 4 AM for the airport and I won't be back until late on the evening of July 3rd. So you probably won't hear from me again until July 4th. I have never conquered the internet cafe thing and at $9 a minute I ain't going to be using the internet on ship.

I'll be around for the rest of the weekend. After that your assignment is to take care of each other until I get back.

Hugs and wave to all,

Mary Frances

I am so happy for you to be going on vacation. I know you shall find it different especially traveling with insulin, but after a day or two you should do just fine. I think the hardest part is the time difference especially having to take your shots, but eventually you get the hang of it. Wishing you tons of fun, laughter, and some exciting fun. Have a safe trip and we will be just fine until you get back. Take care and do have a super fabulous weekend!

I hope you have the very best vacation ever! At least a cruise 'sounds' as if it would be an easier way to handle the food situation, since food is supposed to be everywhere. Y'all have a good time. 2sweet02
