Hey this morning fast it was 155.. this is the highest I have seen it on that monitor. I dont know really what to do.. I had to eat breakfast because I have to go to work.. I took both meds so hopefully it will bring it back down at least under 140.. bye for now group.. Melody

Melody,
What you are seeing is the result of insulin resistance. Everyone, diabetic and non-diabetic, makes additional glucose early in the morning to get ready to get up. What happens in us diabetics is that our livers get carried away. Then our poor pancreas tries to make enough insulin to get our blood sugars under control. Because of the insulin resistance we can't use all the insulin that we need our pancreas keep pouring it out until we finally wear out our pancreas. Luckily this takes years to occur.
Absolutely take your meds. By the way what meds are you on? Your increase physical activity will bring your blood sugar back down. So yes you needed to eat your breakfast. Hopefully you had some protein with your breakfast as that will help also.
Have a good day at work. I must get ready to go back to work today also.
It is glucophage or metformin. Don't worry about misspelling it. I understood what you meant.
The recommendations for bedtime blood sugars are 110-140. If your blood sugar is above 140 I would have some protein and a small amount of carbohydrates. When you see your physician ask him or her because this is really part of the perscription for taking care of your diabetes. Also when you take your diabetes education classes they will help you understand what to eat and how much.
I may have more information for you after Thursday because I requested a repeat visit to the dietitian. I have been on insulin since March and I have been having a really hard time managing my blood sugar with really severe lows occurring. It has been many years since I saw a dietitian and the way we manage diabetes has changed. I am a nurse and I keep up with the changes but I just felt that I needed some help.
It is wonderful that youa re learning to count your carbs. This is really important and will help you be a success.
Have a great day,
