I got the new Paradigm 512 since the smaller resevoir works best for me, but they do also have a 712 that uses both the 3.0 and 1.8 resevoirs. I how ever did not have to pay for the exchange so I was not going to complain about it at all since it isn't really an issue for me. I have been on it since June 29th and absolutely love it. I also received the new BD Logic meter that communicates with the insulin pump. Since being on this pump I have only had 2 low blood sugars compared to having several in a week so that is the biggest relief for me. The added features on this pump are excellent with working so well.
Oh, I was also told that Medtronic MiniMed will be changing their name to Medtronic Diabetes instead. They also have a new product that should be coming out either this fall or winter. It allows us to be able to monitor blood sugar all day with no need to be poking our fingers. So I am happy to hear that since it does get tiring having to poke a finger many times a day.
Well, that is my update for you all. I just had to share this since I was so thrilled in how well my new pump is working for me. Besides that they had recalled the older Paradigms due to having problems with them freezing up. I was not called until a few days before receiving my new pump so they still ended up with my old one, but it worked out better for me in the long run. Take care and may you have a super happy day!

And congrats on being about half way through the pregnancy...it will be all down hill now!
Michele
Thanks for the pep talk too- I don't know why the eye dr. news knocked me for a loop, but it did. MH
The CDE in the Lantus trial told me yesterday that they are coming out with a continuous blood sugar meter also. It is going to be like the one that is out now but you aren't going to need to go to your doctor's office to get it read. It will report the blood sugar reading every 5 minutes. I bet it is going to be worn similar to how you wear the pump.
When I was in in the diabetes center yesterday to see the dietitian I read an article about the pump being out this year for 23 years. That doesn't seem possible and it certainly has made a huge difference in people's lives. They are considering using it more often in type 2 diabetics instead of all the oral meds.
Where did your baby scale go? I enjoyed seeing it each time I saw one of your posts. Did I tell you the December 3rd is the birthday of my youngest nephew! Small world.
Have a great weekend.

Yes, the continuous blood sugar meter will be worn exactly like the way a insulin pump is worn. I wouldn't mind one myself since it really could help with setting my pump up better that way we would now how my blood sugar runs through out the day for
I am so glad you are Happy with your new pump
and that your meter can communicate with the pump.
Too cool! And you sure know you need a Good BS level
with your new Sweetheart "in the oven".
I sure hope the new product works well so people
can know their BS level without poking themselves. That
would be Terrific. Did you catch a price?????
Thanks for your Good News and info!!

Where's the baby scale?
Hope the new equipment that will give signs for highs & lows. I've been having problems for a while. Is there actually one that will work? I didn't understand if you meant that there is something or not.
Somehow, my glucose level is still screwed up. Am going to wait a little while and try again. My mind is sort of screwy.
Take care of yourself.

The new product will be worn like the insulin pump so technically you do have to poke yourself once to set it up. I did ask about the price, but was told they have not decided on that as of yet. If I hear anything esle about it I will be sure to share it with you though.
Congratulations to your niece on having a little girl! I know for a fact that I will not make it to Dec. 3 since I had both my boys at 35 weeks 2 days by c-section. I am figuring either the end of October or first week of November will my little girls arrival by scheduled c-section. I am so hoping to make it to 36 weeks this time and plan to give it my best shot. She can use all the cyber Auntie's she can get since she really does not have a Aunt at all with my husband not knowing where his siblings are even living and me not really knowing my half sister at all with having met her for the first time in July 2000.
Now take care of yourself and do have a very enjoyable weekend!
Well, my little girl can use all the cyber Auntie's she can get with my husband not knowing where his siblings are even living and me not really knowing my half sister with meeting her for the first time in July 2000. So the more the marrier in my opinion.
The new equipment is used like a insulin pump with it being attached and worn just like one. It will keep track of your blood sugar through out the day for 3 days when they say to change your site. Technically it still means you have to poke yourself at least 1 time every 3 days in the belly, but the needle does come out after you have it in. They do have this already out, but you can only get it from a doctor who has to down load all the information collected from the equipment for you. This one will you only have to get a prescription from your doctor for and it is yours to keep unlike the other one that must be returned to the doctor.
I am right there with you since my blood sugar is good at times and rather a little higher than I want it to be. I am working on getting it down though with the help of my CDE who is absolutely great. I hope you get things worked out soon for you. Take care and do have a great weekend!
