I have an ingrown toenail on both sides of my big toe .. I told someone tonight that I was going to dig it out and she freaked out and told me not to do that since I am a diabetic now.. I am like hmm why not do it all the time. .. I am a diabetic type 2 not type one.. so doesnt that mean it would be okay.. can a person that is diabetic two not have these complications.. I was thinking that only type 1 had these complications.. so Question should I go to the doctor with this ingrown toenail? and two can a type 2 diabetic do they have some of these complications that they talk about.. I went to the first class of the diabetes class and I came out feeling depressed overwhelmed.. its just been a bad day as I posted in the other message.. bye for now group. Melody

Those warnings about complications apply to Type I, Type II, and any other Type diabetics who may be out here.
Take proper care of yourself, and your diabetes will probably be better controlled.
I almost joined your friend in freaking out! Type 2 diabetics have more amputations than type 1's. Your feet are no laughing matter and they need to be treated as if they are crown jewels.
Please see a podiatrist for food care. If s/he shows you how to care for your feet it will be a cost savings in the long run.
Do see if your county has a low cost or free clinic and if there is a way that you can get your medications filled for less. It isn't cheap having diabetes and so you will have to figure out how to get your drugs and supplies as cheaply as possible. Most of the drug companies have compassionate programs for people who can't afford their perscriptions. I believe you can check this out on the web. Your doctor can also ask the detail people when they call on his or her office for samples for you. You need to explaon your crcumstances to the doctor and let him or her help you.
I hope you are feeling better real soon. Try and get some exercise as it is a real mood lifter.
