Type 1 wants to lose weight! Frustrated

Hello there,
I am a 25yr old, type 1 diabetic that wants to lose 10 pounds. I just cant figure out how to do it. I am getting frustrated. I am working out and eating well. I have read on some other boards about how difficult it is.Am I going to have to eat just vegatables to make it happen? Is it true? Am I getting frustrated for nothing? My sugars are all over the place with me trying to work out and eat less.
Any suggestions? Advice? Anything?
Thanks,
Tjdanc

I am also a type 1 that was going through a hard time loosing weight after having my youngest son. I found by talking to my doctor to get me on set on the right amount of insulin to use and a dietician who helped me to set up a meal plan that would work for me. I did loose 18 pounds after my sons birth and another 8 or 9 pounds after that. It really sounds like you need to see both your doctor and a dietician especially if your blood sugars are all
It is hard for anyone on insulin to lose weight. Insulin is a wonderful drug but it causes weight gain. I am newly on insulin and I am trying to lose some more weight as I was doing before I was put on insulin. You can't just eat vegetables as you will have the huge fluxuations of your blood sugar as you have already seen. I was told by a dietitian in the past that a person on insulin shouldn't eat less than 1600 calories or they risked episodes of hypoglycemia. About 1600 calories means having at total of 6 starches, 3 vegetables, 3 fruits, 2-3 milks, 2 meats and 4 fats per day. Look and see if you are eating anything near like this amount. I got these figures from the American Diabetes Association.
If you haven't seen a dietitan for meal planning in a number of years, you might ask your doctor for a referral. I just did that and I was surprised at how the diabetic meal plan has changed since the last time I saw a dietitian. Also remember, if a food has 5 grams or more of fiber that you subtract that from the total carbohydrates to get the correct amount of carbs per serving. To give you an example: I was eat Fiber One cereal which has 24 carbs per 1/2 cup but it also has 14 grams of fiber. So it effective has only 10 grams of carbohydrates.
Basically you are going to have to increase your exercise to vietually every day if you are going to lose weight. Also make sure you measure your blood sugar more frequently so that you can keep that in balance.
I hope this helps,

Thanks again for the suggestions. I will keep you all updated and I am sure I will be back for support. It is just nice to know that others are having the same issues as myself. I like knowing that i am not the only one! Big help.
Thanks again,
