I am forwarding on this message that I received from the American Diabetes Associaiton. I urge you to call and voice your opinion.

Thanks,

Jennifer, mom to a 13 yr. old Type I Diabetic son

On July 13th or 14th, call the White House at 202-456-1414. Urge President Bush to expand his policy on embryonic stem cell research.

On Tuesday, July 13th, there will be a press conference in Washington, DC, featuring US Senators who will call on President Bush to expand the current stem cell research policy. Join them by calling the White House switchboard at 202-456-1414 and leaving a message for President Bush.

For more information about embryonic stem cell research, click here.

In 2001, the Bush Administration announced a policy to permit the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to use only a limited number of embryonic stem cells for this critical research. However, this policy has proven too restrictive, and now the NIH says that expanding the policy will speed research.

Embryonic stem cells are special cells that can develop into every type of cell in the human body and could potentially be grown into differentiated cells to treat individuals suffering from a variety of injuries and diseases such as diabetes, paralysis, Parkinson's, ALS, Alzheimer's, and countless others.

When you leave your message for President Bush, emphasize the following points:

Preident Bush's policy on embryonic stem cell research must be expanded.

Stem cell research could hold the cure to diabetes. A cure for diabetes is important to me because...

Thanks!!!

Thank you for sharing this important issue with us all. I know I shall call today to let Bush now my opinion on the stem cells since I was not at all pleased with his decision. This hurts so many people by not allowing more stem cells to be used, which I so believe it should be up to the people who have friends or relatives who could be helped by getting research done easier and quicker. I will pass this along to my family as well.

Not to get too politcal here, but I'm going to skip the call, and just hope that we get a president in November who already supports it. *shrug*

(and, officically, this is as political as i get, so if anyone says anything, you won't get a response of me. :) I won't discuss it for the most part.)

Please tune in later for a new signature. :)
