On July 13th or 14th, call the White House at 202-456-1414. Urge President Bush to expand his policy on embryonic stem cell research.
On Tuesday, July 13th, there will be a press conference in Washington, DC, featuring US Senators who will call on President Bush to expand the current stem cell research policy. Join them by calling the White House switchboard at 202-456-1414 and leaving a message for President Bush.

In 2001, the Bush Administration announced a policy to permit the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to use only a limited number of embryonic stem cells for this critical research. However, this policy has proven too restrictive, and now the NIH says that expanding the policy will speed research.
Embryonic stem cells are special cells that can develop into every type of cell in the human body and could potentially be grown into differentiated cells to treat individuals suffering from a variety of injuries and diseases such as diabetes, paralysis, Parkinson's, ALS, Alzheimer's, and countless others.
When you leave your message for President Bush, emphasize the following points:
Preident Bush's policy on embryonic stem cell research must be expanded.
Stem cell research could hold the cure to diabetes. A cure for diabetes is important to me because...
