Moaning with Hypo!

I have not been out here in a while but I have hypoglycemia. I have been tested for diabetes but have remained in the hypoglycemic range for 15 years. The Doctors feel it is genetic in out family. Brother is Hypo, Grandfather was hypo, other brother is Diabetic so you can see why it would be genetic in our family.

When I feel low I sometimes will moan and become very sleepy. My husband recognizes this and realizes my need to get protein in me quickly, sugar does not work it just shoots me up for a short time and drops me right back down.

So I would agree with the other comments that it is not realted to pain but to a drop in our system. Hope that helps.

You do need a "quick shot of fast acting blood sugar boost" or sugar. But along with that you need a slower, more long lasting starch, like toast, crackers, and not a protein, which has no carbohydrates. The starch will prevent the ususal plummet that comes after the sugar intake. See if that doesn't work for you. It has worked, from my experience.

I guess I was not specific enough I don't eat the protein alone but more like Cheese and crackers or PB and Crackers. But if I am really low then before I get to the point of fast heartbeat etc I might drink a small glass of soda with the Pb Crackers or whatever.
