My sister is a type 2 on Humulin injections. At 6 AM her bg was 154, she had a cup of coffee with equal and Hazelnut flavored cremora and at 9:30 her bg was 201. How is this possible?

Hi and Welcome to the board.

Yes, unfortuately it is possible because cremora has a lot of sugar in it plus the fats. I don't have any in my house so I can't specifically tell you what is in it but I have looked in the distant past and I know it isn't good for diabetics. She would be better have plain skim milk in her coffee if she needs to have something.

Please encourage your sister to visit us also. We are here to help and we have all been where she is! And some of us have been worried family members also. So please feel free to post your questions and make your comments.

Have a great weekend,

Mary Frances

The hazelnut creamer has sugar in it to give it that great taste so many love so if you add to much of it to get the hazelnut taste you end up with lots of sugar from it. She might try using just some substitue sugar instead since those creamers or liquid flavors are so high in sugar also carbs for so little of it you use. Hope this helps some. Take care and do have a great day!
