Julie;
I think I must be especially crabby tonight! That is a bunch of hooey. If whomever drew your blood didn't have a doctor's order to do it and they drew your blood, they are practicing medicine without a license and that is illegal. Lets not even discuss ethics here! They had to know what the orders were or they wouldn't know what blood tube to use. So some 6 week wonder must be answering the phone or this doctor's office is really screwed up. I am absolutely sure that what the doctor wanted done is listed in your chart and they only had to look at that.
Where did you have the blood drawn? At a lab or in the doctor's office? Did the doctor give you a lab requisition?
I have a clotting defect and I was scheduled for major surgery. My doc ran one last test on me and my blood didn't clot correctly so surgery was cancelled and I was sent to a hematologist. Blood was drawn and taken to the lab of the superspecialist. No one was there when the delivery person left my blood specimen on the counter. This was a Friday. My blood was left siting on the counter all weekend and was useless when somebody finally showed up on Monday morning. All the delivery person needed to do was put the blood in the refrigerator. I was furious and not happy about being stuck again for another set of specimens.
Did you see someone in the office with a name tag indicating that they were a licensed person? It is the law that they have to have name tags on and they have to be legible for the patient. If you did call, and ask that person what happened to your specimens and what the results were of your tests. This is really unreasonable.
Now I will go and calm down!

I had the blood draw at the doctor’s office, when i went on the Thursday morning i had to see the doctor’s assistant as they said he was out of town. She was the one that said i need to have the blood drawn for more test so i never got a slip to see what test are to be ran. I went back in on the Monday and had the blood drawn, i believe she did have a name tag on. She said that she was going to get a rush on it for me so that i can get some answers. As you know i than called Yesterday and she tells me nothing has been done as they are waiting for the doctor to call and let them know what test needs to be done. I was so angry what’s the point of putting a rush on it if its not been sent.
ANGRY UPDATE 8/23
Well i called this morning to see if i can get results, the girl told me they dont know if my blood has been sent out.Im so ready to go off on these people, heck how much time do they need.They said there going to have the girl call me, well she better have her ears covered becuase im going to go off.I think i have waited far to long for my blood to be sent out, who knows if its going to be any good at this point.If they had no doctor to tell them what labs to do than they should not have seen me, they should have sent me to some other place.

Don't understand why no dinner. If it's supposed to be "fasting", 10-12 hours is more than enough! Are you sure they didn't say nothing except water after 7 or 8PM instead of skipping dinner all together? Sounds like you're going to be drinking stuff Monday to measure how you metabolize the sugar instead of just one blood test.
Gosh, seems docs do things differently some places.
Oh well, take care and keep us informed.

It was the 51 I didn't understand. Could it have been 5.1? I'm familiar with the A1C being a number like 5.6 which was mine in June. The A1C a 90 day measurement, and hopefully, it'll be below 6.5 which supposedly is the new "good" goal for Diabetes II.
I'm going to have to go back to keeping a log of carbs, times, and foods. My weight loss has greatly slowed down. My mood isn't all that great either.
I believe it's due to the high temperatures here in Phoenix, AZ. Our summers are hot and get to be toooooooooo looooooong!!! Have been sleeping a lot and that's not good. I easily get dehydrated, and if I'm sleeping I'm not drinking water. So far haven't had to visit the ER this summer. Last year it was twice in the first week of June!
We'll get control of it...just you wait and see!
