Hi Julie -
Everyone's numbers rise after they eat something, this is just how the body works.

Julie,
You want the blood sugar to be 140 or less. In everyone the blood sugar rises after eating. In non-diabetics the blood sugar comes back down to the normal level of under 140 in two hours. In diabetics it takes 3 or more hours for the same thing to occur unless they are under good control either via exercise and meal planning or with the various medications.
If you saw my answer to auntydoxzz yesterday you know that 15 grams of carbohydrates will raise your blood sugar initially 50 points. So for diabetics, regardless of where they blood sugar started, after two hours you don't want to see a rise of more than 40 poiints from their pre-meal blood sugar reading.
So please look at the web site that was suggested to you and also give your mom this answer. Obviously you haven't heard from the Endo yet, otherwise I know that you would have posted the results by now. By the way when are you scheduled to go back and see this doctor?
Cheers,

Julie,
Look on the bread package. You may be eating more than you realize. I am supposed to eat 45 grams of carbs for lunch and dinner. No one would think that I could have a small peach and 2 slices of bread for my sandwich. But the multi-grain bread that my husband has been purchasing has 20 grams of carbs in it. So with a sandwich made of that bread it is forget the peach until later!
I am at work and so I am going to cut this short. Will chat with you more later.
