Pear to apple? Help!

Hi all. I'm new here and have a few questions about diabetes symptoms. My mother is a very severe diabetic. I've been worried about developing diabetes as I age, and now, at 29, I"m wondering if I have it..I'll be calling the doc tomorrow but I thought I'd get some thoughts here.
Here's my question. I've always been a "pear" body shape. Suddenly, I've become an apple, with my legs losing weight/toning up and my stomach EXPANDING! I've never, ever had a problem with weight around my middle, and yesterday, someone asked me if I was pregnant! Is this drastic change in body type a symptom?
Also, about 2 months ago I was nauseous almost constantly for 9 weeks straight. I'm NOT pregnant, and the doctors weren't able to find anything wrong with me except a iffy UTI. I've been eating healthy but gaining weight, and all this started around the time I stopped feeling queasy. I had a blood test, afterwhich the doctor announced that I didn't have diabetes, but he didn't do the glucose test thingy where you're tested for something like three hours. Any ideas, or suggestions? Help! --Ticky

Hi and welcome to the board.....
Hi Ticky,
Whatever was the cause of your symptoms two months ago is probably the culprit here and so you need to see your physician again as soon as possible. Please get back to me with what your physician tells you. Do not be concerned if they need to repeat the lab tests that were done two months ago. They really need to get to the bottom of this.
I hope you are feeling better real soon,
Mary Frances
