Been away for a long time

Hello everyone! I've been away from here for a very long time and I've decided that it's time to come back. A lot has happened since I was last here, but it's too long a story to go into now. Mary Frances might remember me and some of the others who are here as well. I am a Type 2 diabetic and have been for 15 years now. I was diagnosed on my birthday in 1989. I take the oral meds Glucophage XR and Actos for the blood sugars. I also take Lipitor, Neurontin, Prinivil, and Lexapro. I sometimes have to use insulin when I get too far out of control, but I haven't been doing that as I should. I've gained a lot of weight in the past few years, especially after I broke my ankle. While I am up and about again, I've developed a pain in my left calf which I can't explain and I hope is not a blood clot. It only hurts when I move around a lot. While sitting or laying, it seems to be okay. Has anyone experienced the same thing, and if so, can you tell me what your doc said it might be? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. I really want to get healthy for the first time since I was diagnosed, something I haven't done. I hope I can be as great a help to you as I know you will be to me.

Love, Cathy

Hi Cathy and welcome back to the board, which we are so pleased to have you joining us once again. Now as for your question on your calf I have experienced pain in my calf before, but usually it is due to my muscle tightening up to a rock and not releasing as it should and also pulling the muscle in that area caused me some great pain as well. I cannot say if this is what is causing your pain the calf or not since your the only one who knows if your calf is getting tight or if a muscle is pulled. Might have you bumped it and just did not know you did? I have done that a few times myself and found that I ended up with a bruise that I had no idea I had gotten.

How ever if all esle fails try calling your doctors office to see what they can tell you and if need be make an appointment to be seen. It is always better to be safe in my opinion. Just know that we are all here for you. Do let us know if you find out what is causing the pain since it might be helpful for somebody else on the board. Take care and do have a terrific day!
