When you were diagnosed with diabetes, were you extremely tired?? I am so tired I can bearly make it through the day. When I get home from work, it's all I can do to get changed and hit the couch for a snooze. This is so unlike me. I am rather worried.
I was exhausted, even thought I might have had mono (like I did in high school) as the symptoms were similar. Needless to say I was shocked when diagnosed with diabetes (type 2), so much so I told the doctor he was wrong. He showed me the bloodwork that supported his diagnosis but I insisted on a referral to an endocrinologist to confirm the diagnosis...that was 19 months and 102 pounds ago! Three more to drop to reach my goal and am finding then to be the most difficult to shed.
Since my diagnosis and attendance in diabetes education classes I kicked myself in the butt to drop the weight...it has made a HUGE difference in my stamina. I realize getting my BS in line, the meds, the meal plan and the excercise have all contributed to my feeling better. The diagnosis was scary but I decided I was going to take control of me and do the best I could with it.
I know how frustrating it feels to not know why anything is going on with your body. How ever your being tired is very normal since your blood sugars are all over the place right now and when it is high that helps to make you feel tired as does being low. The only thing you can do is get educated on what you need to know to help you get your blood sugars under control so that your body gets some energy back that your use to having. How ever if it really concerns you than do not hesitate to call your doctor to discuss this with them, because they might have a different perspective on why your so tired. Just remember with everything it all takes time since things generally just do not happen over night.
So this is why we check our blood sugar more often to help us learn signs that happen for a given blood sugar result. If I remember right you do not yet have a blood sugar meter to check yours with as of yet so that does make it hard to figure out why your feeling so tired these days, but if by chance I am wrong about your having a meter than by all means check your blood sugar when you especially when you feel very tired since that might help you to understand why your feeling so tired.
I hope this helps you out some, but if it makes you feel better by calling your doctor than do so since it is better to be safe than sorry in my opinion. Take care and do have a great day!
I was absolutely exhausted. I had to take a nap at work or I couldn't get through the whole day. When I finally got my blood sugar under control that is one of the first thing to go. The other was my blurry vision. Sometime even now when I come home from work
