Hey I was wondering if all of you had the typical symptoms like frequent urination and thirst? I don't have any of those symptoms but people are concerned that my sugar is a problem. I get very shakey and feel like I am about to pass out if I don't have food at specific times during the day and if I eat too much (not a whole lot even) I feel really sick and bloated. I also get very pissy at that time and my bruises and cuts take ages to heal. My foot is still sore from more than a year ago after a horse stepped on it. I also have horrible chest pains when I get stressed out or upset. I don't know if these are diabetes symptoms or anything but if you know what they might indicate please let me know. Thanks, Tinkerbell

Hi Tinkerbell and welcome to the board. I am one of the community leaders for this board who has been a type 1 for over 29 years now and on a insulin pump for over 7 years. Now what I am about to tell you is solely based on my own experiences or what I have learned over the years, but it does not mean you should not seek out medical attention especially if it worries you.

I can only say that sores do tend to heal super slow and at times if low or high I do get shakey, which I usually check my blood sugar to see what it is so that I know just what to do to help resolve the problem. Your not being so hungry can also be a sign as well since blood sugars can really cause so many problems like this one. My best advice for you is to go in to see your doctor and tell him/her your concerns based on what you have been experiencing, because you could be either diabetic or hypoglycemic since some of what you says can point to in either direction. Do not put it off, because if you are indeed diabetic than it is best to get diagnosed sooner than later and it is nothing to put off in getting treatment for.

I hope this is of some help to you and that you do seek out medical attention to find out why you are experiencing these types of symptoms. Please do let us know when you get tested and what your results were, because we will be thinking of you. Take care and do have a great day!

Hey Tinkerbell,

Wow, the symptoms you describe are almost identical to some of what I've been feeling. I too was worried about diabetes, but I got bloodwork done and it all came back normal. I'm still experiencing these symptoms though and I just can't help but wonder what they're from...I don't want to just accept that it's "just how I am", you know? I don't really get much of the shakiness when I don't eat, but apart from that I experience the same irritability when I haven't eaten for a while, but then I eat something that's not even that much I feel really full and nauseaus. But sometimes the opposite happens, where I can eat be hungry all the time and I don't even feel full after a larger portion. I also get the chest pains, like tightness, whenever I feel a little bit anxious or stressed. Cuts and bruises don't take forever to heal, but I do bruise really easily. Another weird thing that happens to me is I get cold right after I eat, I mean I literally get chills through my body. It's so weird. Got the frequent urination going on too.

So anyway, keep us updated on your progress, if the doctor tells you anything helpful. I'm actually in the process of going to a Naturopath (had the consultation 2 weeks ago, follow up appt. on Monday), so hopefully she can help me understand some of what's going on w/ me! Good luck with everything :)

Hi,

This is my first time here and I was reading through some of the

posts and I thought this one sounded interesting.

You stated that your tests came back normal, what tests did you have

done, if you don't mind my asking? The reason I'm wondering is that

my family dr had only been testing my fasting glucose and it was always

coming back 'normal' Finally I went to an endo and she tested my fasting

insulin level as well, and for me, that's what it wrong. My blood sugar

is normal because my pancreas is overworking to keep it that way, which

is why my insulin levels are so high.

I never suspected that anything to do with diabetes was my problem because my

symptoms, I thought, didn't sound like they fit into either category, high

or low blood sugar.

Just a thought....
