Well, I am doing my own private happy dance this evening! Saw my endo this morning, was thrilled and shocked to learn my A1c is 4.5 today! When diagnosed it was 8.6, now after 19 months hard work I see it has paid off.
I have also been given the green light to cut back on my Glucophage XR 500mg to once a day. The trial period of this dose is to be for 2 weeks, if my numbers stay between 80-120 then I can stop taking it altogether! Of course, my endo warned that if my numbers elevate then I am to contact him and start back on the last dose which was effective.
I am just so proud of myself, I put my mind to taking charge of my health and I won! I am committed to my new self, sticking with my meal plan (yes, an occasional treat is something I enjoy), sticking with my exercise program and praying that I can continue to maintain my BS in this zone. My endo warned "an A1c of 4.5 does not mean you're cured, diabetes has no cure" it just means we have gotten me in control...I CAN live with that.
Thanks for letting me boast!

Wohooooooo and Yay to you Jan on such a fabulous job of taking charge of your health! You should be very proud of yourself since you put your mind to it and stuck in there to achieve your goal, which is something we all need to do to get great results like yours. So you have every right to do a happy dance since I would be doing one myself with that result for an A1c. What ever your doing it is working so well for you so just keep it up since I just know you will continue to do so very well with your health. You so deserve a treat for doing taking charge of things and not letting diabetes take charge of you.
Absolutely Wonderful! Would you like to be a poster child? I am so pleased that you have gotten your diabetes under such good control. Hopefully you will be able to stay at this level for several years to come. Please continue to come by and join our conversations. We really want to know how you do, as you run by!
A Huge cheer,
