I was just back to see my doctor again.  I gave him my spreadsheet of testing numbers, which I have attached here -  if you have excel you can view it.   Lately, they've been pretty low... in the nineties, mostly.  I just got my little results card and my A1C was about 5.5

But doc still increased my amaryl.  I started with 2mg, went to 3mg, which what i was taking when he saw me the other day.  He then increased it 4mg.  (I also take Avandamet 4/1000) I can't really for the life of me figure out why he increased it this time.  The only time I go very high at all anymore is when my period is sneaking up.

He told me if I go too low, to go back to the 3mg and give him a call.  Which is the only reason I agreed to take a higher dose at all.  But still, I don't understand it.

I forgot to attach the thing.. crap.  Can't do now....

All I can think of is that your doctor might be seeing if raising your dose can get you in even tighter control since some are able to do just that. Besides at least he did tell you to decrease if you

Christi,

What your doctor is most likely seeing is that your post eating blood sugars are too high. Try testing your blood sugar before you and and two hours after you finish eating. Hopefully your blood sugar will be no more than 40 points higher than before eat and even more hopefully your 2 hours blood sugar will be 140 or less.

So try an experiment on yourself and see what your blood sugar reading are and then post the results. Also you need to carry your meter with you and you need to care something with some carbs to treat any lows that you may have. I like to carry the snack size of glucerna bars with me. You can carry similar diabetic products also.

A hardy congratulations on your wonderful A1C. You are rally doing a

Christie,

Let's see how you do. Your doctor is following current recommendations. Current recommendations are to get the blood sugar as close to normal as possible. If you begin to feel funny, either excessively sleepy or hot and sweaty, check your blood sugar. Soon you will be able to be a pretty good judge of when your blood sugar is in the 70 range. Because your blood sugar has been elevated for some time you have lost the sense of when it is 70-80 range. You will regain the ability
