could it be low sugar maybe?

hi there. not even sure if this is really the right board, but here it goes.

i have an extensive history of blood sugar problems in my family. i've lost at least 2 members of my dad's (extended) family to low blood sugar (great grandma died from diabetic coma). my mom was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes when she was in her late 30s, after having yo-yo dieted for years (her doctor blamed it mostly on this). she had a blood sugar level of 548 when she went in to be tested & was diagnosed.

now for me... i've always been super sensitive to sun light. as a child, 10 mins in the sun would have me with migraine-like headaches and throwing up. as i matured my sensitivity reduced a little, but then when i was 19 i agreed to try psychiatric medicine (i'm bipolar 1 with rapid cycling with OCD tendencies). after a horrible experience with meds, i decided to control my bipolar without meds & am doing pretty well with it. however, after having been on lithium for awhile my light sensitivity got way worse.
the past few months i've been under lots of stress (bad living situation). i got out of that and over all am starting to feel better. except i've been getting headaches again a lot more. at first they seemed to be mostly connected to my light sensitivity, but now i'm starting to wonder if maybe it could be like pre-diabetes. btw, i'm 26 and a recovering anorexic. last time i got on a scale i was within healthy rate range for my height & build, but i'm not so sure any more since for about the past month i've been starving myself again.
i've been trying to remember what foods are better to eat when you have low blood sugar but have been at a loss. i've been trying a little to decrease carbs & increase protein, but the other day a bag of combos seemed to help get rid of the headache. unfortunately i don't have medical insurance so i can't go see a doctor about this right now, but does it sound like what i'm describing is like hypoglycemia or pre-diabetes?

thanks for taking the time to read :)
