Hi everyone -

I would just like to take a minute to thank all of you who wrote me the words of encouragement that I needed.

I went to the education class this week -- all has been fine thus far. I have to check my sugars 4x a day and my ketones in the AM, but so far I have been far below the levels that are considered to be dangerous by my doc. In fact -- saw him today -- said that if he did not know it that he never would have guessed I was GD by the levels I have been getting.

I am glad that I am going to the dietician again next week though. I have found that I am feeling a bit shaky during the day -- something I am not used to. I am following their diet religiously, so the dr. said they might have to make some adjustments as it sounds like now my sugars are getting too low at times. Oh well... it is keeping me hopping, that is for sure!

Anyway -- thanks again. I will keep y'all up to date-

Kristy,

I'm so glad that things are going so well for you! Keep up the good work. My motto for the rest of my pregnancy was "I can do anything for 10 weeks!" Keep that in mind and you'll be fine. The only piece of advice I have is to not be afraid to test a bit more often as you are learning how your body is reacting. When you feel shaky, try testing to see what your bs is. This can only help the doctor help you as well.

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and please come back and let us know how you are doing. And, of course, if you have questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

I am so thrilled to hear that you are doing so great. I know that it is a lot of work, but well worth it to have a healthy baby and I know that from my own experience. I am also pregnant for the third time around, but a type 1 and I check my blood sugar when ever I feel funny to make sure there is no problem since it is better to be safe when it comes to my health and unborn little girl. So when you feel shakey see what your blood sugar is at since that can be a sign of either low or high blood sugar this way you will have a better idea of what is going on. Besides the 4 times a day is just a basic number, but in general you can check as often as you feel is necessary. I myself may check up to 10 times in a given day and that is fine by my doctors.

The dietician will most likely as you what your blood sugar level is at when you feel shakey so that she will know just what to do with your meal plan to help you not have that problem. So my best advice is to check it when that happens this way you can tell both the dietician and doctor just what your blood sugar is at during the time you feel shakey. This helps both to do what they can to help you out better.
