I want a One Touch Ultra Smart Meter. Do you think Insurance would cover one?

They sound real neat were you could keep track of everything. Does anyone have

one? If you do is it a good tool to keep your sugar under control or just a pain

to even try using?

What does the lancing device look like? Mine has a barrel, you pull the plunger backer, then release the push button. Is that what the UltraSmart utilizes, too?

I'm a cheater! ;)

I had a FreeStyle monitor that I returned (due to insurance reasons, no sense in keeping that one), that was the one I was using daily.

Did your insurance pay for the Ultra Smart? Just curious.

No My Insurence didn't pay for the One Touch Ultra Smart : ( they gave me a
One Touch Ultra I called Life Scan and they said they would give me 30.00
for my new meter. When asked the price they said the Ultra was 69.00-70.00
dollars and the Ultra Smart was 99.00. I have to think a little on it.

Too bad they didn't pay for it. I'm pretty sure that mine won't either.

Right now I'm working on getting them to pay for my Z-coil shoes. Have to call them after I get back from the ultra-sound of my liver. My Alk Phos is high again and my endocrinologist sent me to a gasterenterologist who ordered the U/S. Am kind of concerned how I'm going to make it until 8AM w/o my BS going too low. It was 80 at 4:30AM. Had to be w/o food & water from midnight until the test. Am taking a 4oz baby OJ with me in case it goes into the 60's. Will take my monitor to keep track.

Keep your fingers crossed for the U/S. Had one in 2000 which showed fatty liver. Don't want it to be any worse. My PCP didn't seem too concerned at that time. Have had out-of-normal range (not bad, though) since my hysterectomy in 1990.

Just another worry to add to the rest of the crap!

E-mail www.lifescan.com and ask them for the coupon. It's good until 12/05 and the rebate is $50 total. You have to return your old meter as part of the program, though.
You might be able to get the coupon from you local Diabetes Assn. I got mine at a diabetes fair this summer. Bought the meter at Walgreen's for $79.99 + taxes. Haven't opened the box yet and it's nearly November 2004!

I'm still considering it. I'm sure my insurance won't pay for it either.
