Insulin etc. delivered to the door?
| Tue, 10-19-2004 - 11:42am |
Can I get my supplies delivered directly to my house instead of going through a pharmacy? Is it cheaper to do it this way? If so how do I go about finding companies etc. that do this.
Thanks in advance
Pheobe.

I'm not sure what kind of insurance you have, but mine allows for me to get a 90-day supply thru a mail-order pharmacy that delivers to my door. I use Expresscripts.com. I am billed only for one month's insurance charges, and the insulin comes overnight in a coldpack. It is great! You may want to call your HMO/Insurance provider and see what you have as a benefit.

Hi and welcome to the board.
I get my insulin through the mail also. Most modern insulins need only to be kept cool and not refrigerated like we used to have to do. I got my perscription this week and the ice pack still had frozen spots in it. I also ordered my syringes by mail. What surprised me was that they came in a box labeled for mail sale only. I have no idea why they aren't like what you get when you buy a box in the pharmacy. Incidentally my insurance won't pay for the syringes. Now I wonder how they expect me to take the injectible insulin! :-( I paid $17.60 for 90 syringes so I hope the price was okay.
What knid of insulin are you on and how much are you taking? I wish the insulin came in a smaller vial because I sure waste a lot of it!
