Advice needed, BS out of control

Hi gang, brand new here :-)

I need some advice controlling my blood sugar. I have had hypoglycemia the last 25 years, and have controlled it just fine with a strict diet and lots of excercise. Never had any kind of problem controlling my BS until now.

I've had some major crisis in my life, stress level is way over my head, caught the flu and my BS has been misbehaving in a big way.

Been to my MD twice in the last 4 weeks, have had all the tests and then some. Other than my BS swinging wildy, and the flu I can't seem to shake, I'm in perfect health. MD says I need to fix the stress in my life, which I am dilligently working on.

In the meantime, upon awakening in the morning my BS is down in the 50's, and I feel like ((&(*&(*& Careful diet gets it back up in the 100's by noon. I feel only moderately bad thru the PM (mostly from the flu I can't seem to shake) and by early evening I am absolutely exhausted. Hit the sack, sleep fitfuly about 10 yours, wake up once or twice in the night from the flu (perspiration, shakes) and my BS in the morning is back down in the 50's. I've tried hi-protein snacks in the middle of the night at those times when I wake up, and I hit a strong, hi-protein bkfst soon as I wake up.

Any advice as to how to prevent my BS from going so low in the early AM would be much appreciated. My MD has no suggestions, other than to keep doing what I'm doing and hopefuly it will clear up. It's been 4 weeks and I'm at the end of my rope here. Waking up with my BS in the 50's is just _miserable_, and it's not helping me get over the flu either.

thanx

Hi and welcome to the board,

I am hoping some of the others with hypoglycemia will tell you what helps them. I am a type 2 diabetic so my disease is different. I have been diabetic for 15 years and earlier this year was started on insulin. I have had severe bouts of hypoglycemia (twice last week in the low 50's)
