I posted a couple of months back complaining that my MD prescribed hctz for my bp and it caused my glucose & cholesterol to rise. Well, my endo, cardio and gp refused to stop the hctz so as i stated in my post, i lowered the dose of hctz for 3 months. I had my lipid panel and a1c test done 10/8 and recently discovered that my glucose a1c has dropped to 7.5, it had been 8.5. My cholesterol dropped from 298 to 243.

I know its dangerouse messing around with meds, but not one of these professionals would acknowledge my problem was the meds.

I took MaryFrances advise and had a heart to heart with my MD. I explained to him that i was sticking to my diet and exercise regimen. He still would not refer me to a cardio. I finally called my ins. co and endo gave a referral. My cardio took said i did the right thing bcuz the thiazide caused me great problems. I was on other bp meds that controlled my bp.

I'm glad it's working out for you. Isn't it frustrating to have a doctor like that? I have one myself and only see him when I absolutely must, otherwise I see the nurse practitioner who actually listens to me. My PCP insisted that my back and hip pain was totally unrelated to the bulging disk in my back but he sent me for PT anyway. The therapist didn't understand how he could think it was anything other than the disk! I wish you continued good luck w/your meds and may you find a doctor that will actually listen! Julee
