Meter & supplies expense questions

I am still reeling from the diagnosis and am doing my best to get myself together on this. I have a Dex monitor that gives me error messages 50% of the time so I'm in the market for a new one. I have emailed my insurance co to see if they will cover a meter and/or supplies and if so, what brand. Based on previous experience w/them, I bet I'm on my own with the expenses. So there are my questions, What meter do you use? And what are your monthly expenses with it? Thanks everyone! Julee

You should contact your insurance company right away because many cover the cost of the meter 100% and you just pay for strips and lancets and even those can be part of your prescription plan.

I was diagnosed Type 2 diabetic on Friday and I called my insurance company and they gave me the number for Accu-Check and OneTouch meters. They are running a free meter offer for my insurance company. I have both and love the OneTouch Ultra meter for the fact that it tracks everything electronicly. I paid $25.00 for the test strips and $9.41 for the lancets and that is for 100 of each.

Good luck
