Norms without short acting insulin

Well, something's working - bad thing is, I don't know what.
The only significant change I've made is not eating after 9 PM, and now my fasting numbers are good - more often than not right around 100/110. My post meal numbers are really good - not seeing anything over 160 -AND THAT'S WHEN I DON'T TAKE MY 2 UNITS before the meal!!!
So would the long acting insulin (15 units Lantus) suddenly be working so well that my oral meds are enough and I don't need the novalog?
Is not eating after 9 making such a difference?

Hi,
You may have gotten it under control enough that you don't need the short acting insulin anymore and can control it with just OMD and long acting insulin. The less you have to take the better in my book.
You are like me a sensitve to the long acting insulin, which isn't always the case. Basal insulin makes up 40-50% of the insulin that a person needs per day.
Keep a log of your blood sugars and share it with your physician. They may tell you to stop the short acting insulin. I don't why but it does seem to make a difference when you eat your bedtime snack. Doesn't seem logical but I noticed the same thing.
