Diachrome - anybody have any info?
| Mon, 06-25-2007 - 1:09pm |
I got a $3.00 off coupon in the mail for Diachrome. I went to their website and it sounds as if it is something worth taking. Has anyone ever taken it, heard of it, etc.? I'm thinking I may try it as after my surgery in January, I lost 10 pounds, but now since I can eat real food again, I'm doing just that and have gained 23 pounds which has put my bg up. I'm used to morning readings of 98, now I'm getting 166, 154, 140, and I do not like that. Two hours after a salad it was 139, and it is usually under 120 after meals. So, anybody that has info about the product, I'd like to hear from you.
Thanks,
Debby =^..^=

Debby, are you on any meds at this point or insulin?
I forgot to tell all the ones that don't know me about my diabetes. Type II, take one Januvia a day and 2 Starlix. I lost 70 pounds (I'm terribly overweight) and my diabetes didn't affect me much anymore. Then I got depressed and started eating and gained 50 of it back. In January I had gallbladder removed (the hard way, not laproscopic) and I lost about 10 pounds, but since March I've put on 23 pounds, so now I am almost at the weight I was when I was first diagnosed. I am experimenting today, which my doc knows I do that with my meds. I took 1/2 a Januvia this morning, the other half this evening, and I'll see what my morning readings are. I, of course, started dieting again and I'm sure as soon as some of this weight comes off, the Januvia will start working the way it did before I gained this extra 23 pounds. See, my doc says he wants to see anything under 200 bg, and it would be fine with him. Well, it's NOT fine with me. I've dusted off the treadmill (I HATE EXERCISE) and I'm hoping to be on track soon. But the Diachrome info that was sent in the mail says: Helps maintain blood sugar control, Promotes Health Cholesterol control, Safe to use with diabetes, cholesterol and blood pressure meds, Doctor-recommended. I went to the website www.diachrome.com and it almost sounds like a miracle pill. I'm sure MaryFrances will set me straight on it, though! She's always on top of things!

Hi Debbi,
Wait till you see my new kitty in my siggy. Her name is Abby and she is a hand full!
I am glad that you are back with us. I have never heard of diachrome and so I wouldn't want to try it. There are various naturceticules that I have heard of and are discussed at the medical meeting that I go but this isn't one of them.
Incidentally Januvia won't affect your morning blood sugars although mine are better since I was started on it. When are you taking your Starlix and what dose? Probably you need to take it with each meal or at least lunch and dinner.
I am glad that you are getting the treadmill out again. Exercise is really needed and the recommendation has been increased to 30 mins at least 5 times per week. Since the weather is nicer why don't you try walking outside.
I am sure you have seen me post many times what the recommended blood sugars and A1Cs are and so I won't bore you with them again. But suffice to say your doctor's recommendation is way off for you to meet the national goals.
You just need to start measuring your food again and if it has been several years since you have seen a dietitian and your insurance will pay for it perhaps a visit will help you get back on tract again. Your really need to loose 5-7% initially to get your blood sugar back under control. Good luck and get started today!
